The factory anode is a quarter inch away and that is too far to save the engine. You can clearly see the engine without the WaterDog Outboard Saver is dying, corroding and turning yellow just like you see yours doing. The factory anode is too far from the thermostat and it doesn't have enough surface area exposed to the water to fully protect the engine and saturate the thermostat cathodic ability.
