Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin says he's open to making a trade — as long as the deal makes sense for the team.

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin on Monday declined to address reports that forward J.T. Miller was nearly traded to the Rangers over the weekend.

The scuttled J.T. Miller trade between the Canucks and the New York Rangers, which was first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on “Hockey Night in Canada,” was close enough to occurring that Vancouver considered not dressing Miller for its Saturday night home game against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Vancouver Canucks are at an impasse with star forwards J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. Both players are amid deep cold spells inspired by an off-ice rift, resulting in plenty of trade rumors.
