A 66-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a stabbing at a busy market in London. The attack happened on the morning of Remembrance Sunday on East Street, Walworth, and three people were seriously assaulted. One of those people, 77-year-old Hilkiah McLeggan from Southwark, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man who was killed in a stabbing in south London cried: “I’m gone, it's the end of my life,” according to reports. Officers were called to reports of a number of people stabbed at East Street Market in Walworth at about 10:40 GMT on Sunday.

The Metropolitan Police have arrested a man in his 60s following the knife attack at East Street Market, off Walworth Road in south London at 10:40am. One man died at the scene while a man and a woman were taken to hospital for treatment. Police said they were waiting for an update on their conditions.
