For weeks, the New York Rangers have been involved in the rumor mill about a potential reunion with J.T. Miller. However, it might be a mistake for president and general manager Chris Drury to pull the trigger – especially when hearing some of the latest rumblings.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday that a deal was close involving Miller but ultimately wasn’t finalized.

The Devils were linked to Miller in multiple reports last week as the Canucks reportedly weigh trade options. Despite Miller’s rumored feud with teammate Elias Pettersson — which the two have denied — the Devils would have to present a large trade package if they want Miller.

It’s been multiple days since the New York Rangers’ reported deal with the Vancouver Canucks fell through for J.T. Miller and the veteran forward still is yet to be traded. Miller reportedly has his preferences on where he would like to end up if a trade were to take place as it could all come down to the Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes.

“The New Jersey Devils have been a late entrance and have held talks with the Canucks on J.T. Miller,” LeBrun said on TSN's "Insider Trading" on Tuesday. “I also think that internally, the Devils are trying to sort of suss out if it makes sense to go all-in on this or not at this point and where they are."

Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin says he's open to making a trade — as long as the deal makes sense for the team.
