National Freshman, Sophomore of the Year from Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) announces on Twitter she will have surgery, thanks Sabrina Ionescu for words of encouragement

Archbishop Mitty junior McKenna Woliczko will not return to the court this season. Woliczko has torn an ACL in her right leg, the five-star recruit announced in an X post on Tuesday morning. She suffered the injury in the second quarter of Mitty’s 61-44 loss to Ontario Christian on Saturday at the Sabrina Ionescu showcase at Carondelet High.

As feared, two-time Metro and National Girls Basketball Player of the Year McKenna Woliczko has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of her junior season. The 6-foot-2 Archbishop Mitty wing injured her right knee in a non-contact play during the second quarter of the Monarchs' 61-44 loss to Ontario Christian in the Sabrina Ionescu Showcase at Carondelet-Concord.

Woliczko suffered a non-contact injury against Ontario Christian in a battle of the top two teams in high school girls basketball.
