As President-elect Donald Trump plans bold moves for his first days in office, so too are conservative lawmakers in Wyoming, the first state where Trump-friendly Freedom Caucus members have won control of a statehouse chamber.

The most vocal conservatives in the House of Delegates announced the creation of a House Freedom Caucus Tuesday, taking their name and inspiration from a group on Capitol Hill that has become a major player in GOP politics over the past decade.

As Maryland lawmakers grapple with a nearly $3 billion budget deficit, a group of Republican Maryland delegates are pushing back on the state’s Democratic-controlled Legislature and a financial crisis they see as the majority party’s making.

Republicans took the gavel in the Michigan House of Representatives, Detroit Democrat state Rep. Karen Whitsett said she won't caucus with her party, in part, because she doesn't want to fuel any concerns that she may leak confidential conversations with her Democratic colleagues to GOP House Speaker Matt Hall whom she called a friend.
