Texas Tech AD calls JT Toppin's ejection 'egregious' after win
Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt issued a statement after the Red Raiders' overtime win over No. 6 Houston calling the decision to eject JT Toppin 'egregious.'

Texas Tech Red Raiders forward JT Toppin threw a crosscourt pass and on the follow through made contact with the groin area of a Houston defender. The referees reviewed the play and determined that the act was intentional and worthy of a flagrant 2 foul, which means the player is ejected from the game.

Toppin caught a pass on the left wing and faced a double team. He jumped up to make a cross court pass, and his right leg caught the groin of Houston forward Joseph Tugler. The play didn't look intentional in the slightest, but upon review, Toppin was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and was ejected from the contest.
