Few freshmen have the amount of success that Cooper Flagg has had this season while playing for the Duke Blue Devils. He’s done that coming from small-town Maine where it’s rare to find star basketball players.

Mansfield was one of the many Mainers to make the trip south to Boston College on Saturday to see Flagg and Duke take on the Eagles. It was as close as Flagg, who in a short time playing college ball has only cemented his place as the top prospect in the upcoming NBA draft, will come this season to playing near his hometown, Newport.

Flagg scored a game-high 28 points and settled down after an early injury scare and missing four of his first five shots. Chad Venning led Boston College with 19 points.

Duke freshman Cooper Flagg won’t be making it all the way up to Maine, so his fans trekked to Chestnut Hill on Saturday night to see the likely No. 1 overall draft pick play Boston College in his only game in New England this season.

It was a bit of a homecoming for Maine native Cooper Flagg on Saturday as the Duke Blue Devils made the trip to Chestnut Hill to take on the Boston College Eagles.

Flagg's appearance in Chestnut Hill is drawing plenty of interest, thanks both to his growing national stardom and his local roots. The game has been sold out since December, and the get-in price is over $160.
