My husband & I just returned from 7 nights on Hong Kong Island & we experienced no protesting problems. We stayed at Harbour Grand HK & only went over to the Kowloon area one night and didn’t like it. Too busy for us,ppl hassling you to buy fake watches etc,so we stayed mainly on HK Island. We took the MTR and a few buses for getting around.Buy an Octopus Card & any $ still on it at the end of your holiday is refunded. We took the Tram up to Victoria Peak - great views, plan to be there over lunch as quite a few restaurants and some shops. We took a ferry over to Macau. ( Took 1 hr & make sure you get the one that goes to the Taipa Macau wharf, then 5 mins in taxi to Hyatt, where the show is,see below) This area is like a mini Vegas. If you go over, you must see The House of Dancing Water Show - it will blow you away. Its on at 5pm & 8pm & goes for about 80mins.Only place in the world it’s shown. We took a ferry out to Lamma Island, little fishing Village.Had some great Seafood at Sandy’s We took a bus down south to Stanley - Stanley Markets and some cute restaurants again with good seafood. The ferry’s leave from HK Island We flew out late Sunday night and had no probs getting to the airport by taxi. 45 minutes. But later that evening the protesters did set fire etc to the MTR Central station entrance on HK Island. We were considering cancelling our holiday, but felt because we were down on HK Island there was less risk of protesting. We really enjoyed our week. I hope if you do go you have an enjoyable time with no problems

Hi.. I'm going on this September with my daughter which is six years old and my sister. Any place which is convenient to stay and should we take three days of double deck bus tour? I have three nights in Hong Kong before I move into Disneyland hotel.

YMCA Salisbury is a stone's throw away from Star Ferry. It is opposite the Harbour Lights show. Pedestrians walk to see the show from Harbour front. Each time we have stayed there we have seen families and children staying at the "Y".. Maybe 3 days of bus tour is too much, unless you do not like exploring for yourself. Ding Ding tram on Central side of the Harbour is worthwhile - double decker tram. Get an Octopus card at the airport and that means you can travel on buses, trams and trains. Read all about them on Trip Advisor of Google them! Have fun. It's a wonderful city.

I think 3 days in each place is good. In Seoul - try and get a hotel near the Myeongdong area. I stayed at Hotel Venue G. It was within 30 min walking distance to most of the interesting places like Insadol, the Palaces, the temples, Tapgol park, the shopping areas, Money museum etc. The metro stations were within 5 min walking distance. For Hong Kong, I preferred Hong Kong Island over Kowloon. I stayed in Harbour Grand hotel in North Point. It was a pricey hotel as I was with my family. I am sure you can obtain a more economically priced hotel in the Causeway Bay area. This is a lively place with lots of eating places, bars and shops. Give yourself one day to visit Kowloon. The star ferry runs frequent services between Hong Kong and Kowloon. In Kowloon you will find Kowloon Park, Nathan and Chatham Roads, the avenue of stars, promenade (to watch the light show), Jade market, many shops and eating places, museums. Spend another day going to Macau on the early morning Turbojet ferry and returning in the evening. Best to book tickets in advance and online - so that you get cheap tickets. Otherwise, you will pay for more expensive tickets if you go to the ferry terminal to buy tickets as the cheap ones are all sold out. Spend another day in Lantau Island. Take the yellow metro line to Tung Chung. From here take the cable car to Ngong Ping Village to see the Buddha and the monastery. From here take a bus to Tai O fishing village - and return to Tung Chung by bus. If you need any other information, let me know.

a. 4 days 3 nights should be plenty . b. Add One more day if you go to Macau. If you do go, catch the “Dancing Water” show which will impress kids & adults. I’m not a big fan of Macau. But, some might like the Portuguese restaurants , glittery buildings Las Vegas style including one that’s a replica of Eiffel Tower. c. If your kids are fairly into Disney stuff then it might be fun for them to stay one of the nights in one of the Disney hotels. Various Disney characters move around in the Hotel restaurants which is nice for kids. Downside : some price premium . d. Use the recommendations on Trip Advsior eg visit the Peak, Victoria Harbour, Ocean Park... Stanley .
